An Introduction to Organisations

In this week, from Vishal's lecture and Alison's seminar class, I have learned lot of knowledge about the organisations.

Organisations have existed for thousands of years. We live in the world depend on these organisations.
First of all, I learned the definition of an organisations:
Organisation are "social arrangements for the controlled performance of collective goals"

Vishal said definition is just an example of knowledge, we can not only remember the definition. In the UK , we need develop our skills of analysis and evaluation.

Organisations have greatly facilitated people's lives.
The supermarkets provide food and other essential products. The schools give us knowledge. The charity help the poor people or animals and plants endangered. Banks they make sure our money is secure, they provide us with loans to buy a house, expand a business.

Common Features of organisations

People - one, a few or many spread across different countries, continents, time zones (stakeholders).
Objectives - things they are aiming to achieve something.
Structure - ways of organizing work and people so that their efforts are directed towards achieving the objectives.
Management- a team of people are needed to direct, control and co-ordinate the resources so that the output is greater than the input.
Culture – a way of doing things.

There are many kind of organisation forms in our societies.

  1. A really good start to the blog. You defined what an organisation is and looked at the factors organisations have in common. You also identified different types of organisations and gave examples for each. Very nicely produced.
